Antique Natural Influences, Home Office & Vintage Barn Doors

Natural influences, soft shapes, mixed materials and eras, and warming palettes have dominated interior furnishings and decor trends for a few years now. But each season has brought fresh iterations of those big-picture trends. Industry pros packed showrooms filled with manufacturers’ latest and greatest, looking for those enduring trends and subtle refreshes — and designs we just liked. Here’s what stood out. One recurring theme was the use of statement storage and architectural elements like antique armoires, antique rustic armoires, and antique doors that serve both functional and decorative purposes. Pieces such as a hand-carved barn door or Indian barn doors add history, texture, and a grounding presence to a room, blending effortlessly with modern comforts. These heirloom-style elements are not just on-trend—they’re timeless focal points that elevate any interior.

I work from home and pretty much in any room, so I have cozy nooks with consoles or high tables that work as desks. My office/study/meditation room is where I go to unwind and ignite the fires of creativity. I’ve incorporated a vintage carved armoire for storage and a reclaimed antique door as a decorative backdrop, both of which bring soul and character into the space while staying true to the warm, nature-inspired aesthetic I love.

The walls are lined with old arches and doorways that I have converted into bookcases and my desk is made from an old Indian door. Every piece of furniture has a purpose and history. The patians and carvings whisper the stories and are beautifully grounding. My altar is housed in an armoire in the office and is adorned with deities, spiritual carvings, crystals and sacred geometry. But on days when I want to hear the wind or experience the magic of nature, I sit on my Indian swing in the balcony.

My bedroom is opulent in comfort and design, I did’nt spare any effort to create a magnificent headboard from an antique patinated wood door and I hung the door panels on the sides so as to get the king size width. The open doorway in the centre frames a painting of the forest and mountains reminding me that I am one with the earth. Peaceful and grand my bedroom is an oasis of beautiful dreams and my sanctuary.
